Zombie Warning Sign In Texas!

Zombies in Texas? Read on to find out:

Zombies! Run! (TxDOT is Not Amused)

Digital sign instructs motorists to flee from zombies

The Texas Department of Transportation isn't laughing at the ghoulish warning that appeared Wednesday on an Austin traffic sign.

Someone altered electronic signs intended to warn motorists of construction near the intersection of Lamar and Martin Luther King boulevards to warn drivers to "run" from the "zombies ahead."

"The end is near!!!!!!!!!" the signs exclaimed. "Caution! Zombies ahead!!!"

"Run for cold climates," the signs instructed motorists.

The two signs are about a half mile west of the University of Texas campus. Austin Public Works spokeswoman Sara Hartley said the message was only displayed for a few hours.

While some people found it funny, TxDOT says the signs are there to display traffic information.

The department is now trying to figure out who hacked into its digital road sign system. Hartley said the hackers cut a padlock to get into the signs' computers.

She told KXAN-TV in Austin that the stunt is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine.

I particularly liked the advice about fleeing to colder climates. Thanks to Mark for the heads-up!

Zombies and Free Stuff

The title says it all but I guess details would be nice too....

I'm a bit behind with this announcement but thought I'd mention that Resident Evil 5 will be released in March. Why this announcement? The demo is available through Xbox Live and I finally got around to playing it last night. I think the original zombie-based survival horror has another winner on its hands. It feels pretty much like RE4 which was an instant classic. Controls and camera movement don't quite seem "right" but there's still time for polish.

"And what about the free stuff?" you may ask. I just received another shipment of Zombies and Toys keychains. I'm announcing and adding the pics here first before putting them on the webstore. So take advantage... drop me an email at zombiesandtoys@gmail.com, include your name and address and I'll send you one! When these get put in the store there will be a $2.99 price attached.

The keychains are two-sided. One side featuring the ZAT logo and website url and the other with a pic of everyone's favorite dead guy. Well, my favorite dead guy at least! You'll be supporting a dork's website, showing your love for the two coolest things ever (zombies and toys in case you're a little slow today), and make it easier to find your keys! Because when the dead begin to rise and walk the earth, the last thing you want to do is scramble and try to find your keys!

Coolest Zombie Toy Ever?

Alright, I've been meaning to address the topic of actual zombie toys for awhile now. And you know what? I'm not addressing them now, either. HOWEVER, I saw something this weekend that made my jaw drop and I had to get on here to share it...

I will discuss in a future post the greatness of Sideshow Collectible's in-house zombie toy line, The Dead. For those living in a cave, The Dead is a unique series of 12" zombie figures. The best I have seen with some of the most detailed accessories you will find. Sideshow also has a line of collectibles with the tag Premium Format. The Premium Format figures are 1/4 scale (approx 18") of awesomeness. I personally have the Boba Fett and it is friggin' sweet. The PF figures include Star Wars, Indianna Jones, and even Bruce Lee.

Well, I'm sure you know where I'm going with this...

Yes! Sideshow's The Dead Premium Format Patient Zero! The price is a bit hefty at $279.99 but my order is in! Unfortunately, I missed the boat for the exclusive version that comes with a severed hand.
I'm working on having these available for pre-order through Zombies and Toys. Stay tuned for more info!

Angel - the kick-ass one not the things with wings

So, hot on the heals of my last post the Angel series DVD sets have been listed on Amazon. Two of the seasons were bought in London and are region 15 (I think). The collectible book they come in is pretty cool.

Also following up on a previous post... some new Zombies and Toys SWAG arrived including two different types of magnets, some pins, and some really sweet keychains. Supplies are limited and like everything else I have with the logo on it they are free with any purchase. I only have a handful left of each so chances are I will list them on the sealed items page for free along with the stickers.

Speaking of Zombies and Toys, I will soon be offering preorders of select collectibles. Gentle Giant, Sideshow, Hasbro; single items as well as cases. Now all I need is some time to get the webpage in order. If anybody "knows a guy" that can help get the site designed in an easily update-able way for cheap, I'm all ears.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Yeah, so I know a BTVS geek is getting all excited right now thinking they're about to read something profound about Buffy.... sorry. This is just an update that I have listed all of the Buffy seasons on Amazon. There may be some Buffy toys listed shortly as well including some Sideshow Collectibles 12" figures.

I'm also discovering that there is much love for zombies on the internets so I'm going to try to list what I feel are the most interesting sites. If anyone out there has a place or two for me to check out or has their own site, drop me an email. I'll try to have this list posted on zombiesandtoys.com in the zombie section. So many ideas, so little time.

Speaking of no time, I finally finished writing my first book! There is still much editing to do but I hope to have it published by this fall. Look for more news including an excerpt or two in the future.
