New Age Dolls - presented by The Undead Bazaar

The hand-crafted goodies over at New Age Dolls puzzle me. "New Age" definitely isn't the first thing that pops into mind when I seen them and calling them "dolls" just doesn't seem right. To be honest, I find these creations to be among the most frightening and disturbing contributions to The Undead Bazaar. But I'll let you be the judge...

These eerie creations come from the talented and imaginative Jade Perez. She began by first creating rag dolls in 2006 and decided after a few months to incorporate clay into her works. Jade elaborates, "...I wanted to create more expression in the dolls. After trying clay I loved it and stuck with it ever since." Her dolls began with availabilty on her website, newagedolls.com, and Ebay. They can still be purchased on newagedolls.com and Jade has now added an Etsy store.


Your dolls (and I use that term loosely), are very unique looking. Tell us a bit about the process involved in creating one. "Well it depends on the style of the doll. But for my popular dolls, I make a wire skeleton and build on the clay. Then I paint and seal it. After that the fun begins with dressing the doll and finishing it off with hair. The hair is the best part because it’s the final stage and final touch of character."

What other types of oddities do you enjoy creating? "I love to paint weird faces on canvas that I display in my home. Occasionally, other than painting and making dolls, me and the hubby make plush toys together. You can see some of them at www.newagedolls.com/pk."

What is your attraction to zombies? "Good question. I don’t get very jumpy with movies so I love how tense you can get watching zombie movies. I think the attraction is the extreme creepy faces and acts they perform. Nothing beats ripping limbs and flesh off of another person and eating it."

What is your inspiration when you begin to create a doll? "I get my ideas from just being a horror fan, video games, the news, life events and my dreams. I have a lot of crazy dreams! And then other times when I have no ideas for what to make it just comes out naturally."



If we were going to make a doll of you, would you be a zombie or a survivor? What accessories would you want? "Definitely a zombie. And I would want ice cream!"

If bitten by a zombie, would you want to meet your demise prior to changing or would you let the inevitable occur? "Life is too short so I’d switch over!"

Any favorite zombie films, books, or games? "I love Shawn Of The Dead and 28 Days/Weeks later. My favorite game is Left 4 Dead.. always fun but I get killed so fast!"
