Would you snuggle with an undead Teddy Bear ?

Matt Boiselle

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, many people begin the arduous task of finding that ONE gift that will hopefully set themselves apart from all of the other romantics out there playing this big ol' game of love.

Well, fellow victims of Cupid, look no further for that one-of-a-kind gift. Freshly dead from the amazingly creative (and sometimes demented) mind of British illustrator Phillip Blackman, comes
Undead Teds ! These cute & cuddly (albeit VERY bloody) representations of the common Teddy Bear are stripped down of their once appealing expressions and have had them replaced with missing flesh, gaping skull openings, and intestinal trauma (pretty cool stuff if you ask me.)

Orders according to the website are currently backlogged, but don't let that discourage you from checking these little guys out, and placing an order yourself. Feel free to click on the main pic to be taken to the main site, or click here www.undeadteds.com  - and prepare to make the one you love fall even deeper in love with you......or make them run far, far away from you !!!

UK ZombieLab

by Dorothy Emry

How better to spend a cold winter’s night than to explore the workings of the zombie brain?

If you’re lucky enough to be able to get to London’s Science Museum on the night of January 30th, you’ll be able to do just that at ZombieLab.

Prove that you’re not a zombie, rally for zombie rights, or perfect your zombie gait. There will be prizes for the best costume, so it’s also an opportunity to get let your inner zombie out for an evening on the town. The museum promises that you will “walk the line between human and zombie in surprising and theatrical ways” as you explore the zombie psyche and learn more about consciousness. Trigger, an arts organization that specializes in creative happenings, is partnering with the museum to produce the event.

ZombieLab kicks off on Wednesday night at 6:45pm as one of the free “Lates” events the museum holds for adults and runs through the weekend; no one under the age of 15 will be allowed to enter without being accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Read about all the games and activities on the ZombieLab page and follow the news on Twitter under #ZombieLab

Dead Space 3 Demo - Available NOW!

On February 5th, the stars will run with blood and the universe will cringe again as the horror of the corpse-raising Necromorphs returns.  Engineer Isaac Clarke will once again jump into a nightmarish world in Dead Space 3.  However, who can wait weeks to experience the jaw-dropping, skin-tingling survival horror game????

Well, wait no longer.

By liking Dead Space 3's Facebook page here, you can request an offer for an early download of the demo.  Play TODAY rather than wait four to five more days for the general release of the game's demo.

Enjoy...and look over your shoulder.

World War Z: Full Trailer!

Jamie Kennedy

First it was postponed from December to summer of this year, then it needed an almost complete re-write; but if you've been excited about the World War Z film, here's a little something to keep you going.

World War Z looks bad ass! Its definitely a movie I would pay to see. The graphics are amazing and the action is unreal. It's the sort of flesh-eating, undead nightmare that keeps you up at night.

The zombie outbreak spreads world-wide, so the UN steps in and sends Brad Pitt to try and stop it. I'm really curious to see how it'll all ends, so you can count on me buyin' tickets!

REVIEW: The Great Showdowns by Scott C.

Andy Ross

The Great Showdowns is a charming little coffee table book that features watercolor paintings of “showdowns” from films with an introduction by Neil Patrick Harris.  New, classic, and everything in between, Scott C. takes us on a journey through conflict in cinema. Scott’s definition of a showdown is not the same as what I was thinking going into the book.  To me a showdown is an epic battle between opposing forces that is grand in scale.  I found Scott’s interpretations to be a refreshing spin on the notion of what a showdown can be.  Big or small, hostile or hilarious, showdowns come in all forms.

As a thirtysomething fan of movies, I was able to recognize quite a few of the showdowns.  Die Hard, Shaun of The Dead, Gremlins, and Amelie were among my favorites.  I also like how everything was shown in a cheerful mood no matter the circumstances.  I’m pretty certain I wouldn't be smiling while I boarded up a window to fend off zombies, but it added to the charm of the artwork.  One minor gripe is the absence of a table of contents or an index of all the movies depicted in the book.  I have no clue what movie has a bunch of guys and a gas station, but I certainly would like to know.

I enjoy both watercolor artwork and movies, so to me this is the perfect book to have out on my coffee table to share with guests.  If you are even a small fan of movies, pop culture or awesome artwork, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy for your own table. It can even be used for impromptu movie trivia to add some fun to your gatherings!

New Year = New Walking Dead Details

Dave Brown

It is a new year and with it with find ourselves inching ever closer to one of the big zombie games of this year, Activision's The Walking Dead video game.  Last time we talked about it, it was revealed that Darryl and Merle would be faithfully recreated in the game. Since this news, there has been little on the news front concerning the game as Activision has been deathly quiet.  That was the case until last week when a leaked video surfaced showing the gameplay.

The footage shows the player as Daryl Dixon taking out zombies in an undisclosed small town. According to sources at Activision, the game is supposed to take place before the TV series and before Daryl and Merle meet up with Rick and the rest of the survivors.
While this video doesn't show a lot, it does give us a lot of hope that this is going to be the next great zombie video game we are all looking for. Stay tuned to Zombies & Toys as we will be delivering the latest news on this game as it comes to us.

REVIEW: Silhouettes from Popular Culture by Olly Moss

GNAT

I received this book a little while back so that we here at ZOMBIES&Toys could review it. After plowing through it once, identifying all of the pop culture references I knew on my own, I recruited “the man” to partake in the fun and fill me in on the ones which I had no clue about. I have to say that the third time through the book I was astounded by the intricate details in the artwork. I was amazed at how just a silhouette could bring back so many memories of my favorite things from my childhood and pseudo-adulthood.

I began to read about the artist, Olly Moss, and I found out that these silhouettes were cut out using LASERS! Yes, that is correct. As if a really amazing cut out of the Bride of Frankenstein could get any better! Then you learn it was cut by a laser… needless to say, Mind. Blown.
I had the extreme desire to say things like, “why can’t I have freaking sharks with freaking lasers on their heads?”

Alas, I digress, this book is great! Full of amazingly detailed “shadows” of all of your favorite characters from television shows (he did the entire cast of Saved by the Bell!) and movies—like StarWars and Beetlejuice—to videogames—including Super Mario and Final Fantasy.

I can NOT say enough about how amazing this book is and how at least one of the items will end up as permanent art on me at some point in the near future. So, get this book, like NOW. It is well worth a look and a chuckle while you say, “OMG that is so-and-so” then, after you look through, you can recruit and see who else high enough on the up and up in pop culture to know which Bond is which by the silhouette alone!
You can snag it over at Titan Books, or head to their store over on Amazon.com, or just about anywhere they sell really cool books. So, since you are obviously already on the internet, go and… you know… get this book!

Warm Bodies: Watch the first 4 minutes NOW !

Matt Boiselle

Think Endless Love meets Night of the Living Dead - take a budding teen romance, and throw in hordes of flesh-craving denizens of the dead, and PRESTO !.... you have the latest romantic-comedy to hit the big screen in the upcoming movie Warm Bodies.

This sure to be cult-hit stars Nicholas Hoult as the zombie-in-love named R, and his human crush Julie(played by actress Teresa Palmer) - the movie, which was created from the novel written by author Isaac Marion, puts the two smitten adolescents in an almost-"forbidden love" scenario - the more that zombie R falls in love with Julie, the less he holds onto the zombie tendencies, but as time passes, the urges of the undead begin to take over more and more intensely, and R starts to become a "bonie", a savage flesh-hungry beast that will devour anything in its path.

Will true love prevail ?, or is it no match for the primal rage which lays dormant in the black soul of a reanimated killer ? - Warm Bodies hits theaters February 1st, but you can feast your dead eyes on the 1st 4 minutes of footage just by clicking on the video link above and judge for yourself if this movie deserves your hard-earned dollars - watch and enjoy !!
