Upcoming Zombie Movie Recap

This post may be more for my benefit than yours. I'm having a difficult time keeping track of the zombie movie news. With all of the zombie movies coming out over the next few years, at least one of them has to be above average.

I'll admit, I'm rather picky about my zombie movies. The old Romero ones are still among my favorites, but I can only take so much thick, blue makeup and unrealistic red blood. Therefore, I'm welcoming these modern zombie movies with open arms.

Some of my earlier posts already mention what we have to look forward to:

Coraline's Henry Selick's stop-motion zombie movie.

The comic book adaptation ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction.

A new Romero Whatever of the Dead movie this fall.

The UK film Zombies of the Night that we will see this fall.

The Canadian-made Pontypool that should see the light of day in May.

The as-of-yet unposted about World War Z adapted from the book of the same name.

I now have uncovered two more zombie films, one of which will be released this fall! That makes three zombie films to warm us during those chilly months!

Zombieland is being tagged as a zombie comedy, stars Woody Harrelson, and will be released this fall. News is slim and I'm not so sure I like the idea of a zombie comedy. Don't get me wrong, I love Shaun of the Dead and consider it one of my favorites. Unfortunately for Zombieland, Shaun set the bar pretty high for future horror comedies.

Another zombie movie in the works is Army of the Dead. Sounding a bit darker, the story is written by Zach Snyder of Watchmen and 300 fame. The story takes place in a future Las Vegas and tells the story of a father in search of his daughter.

Take notes, my friends, and let me know if you uncover anything interesting as the release dates get closer!
