No, I did not have the opportunity to view George Romero's latest film. So I hope you're not expecting to hear my views. The same cannot be said for the lucky folks at Fangoria. So head over there to read their review!

I saw it and it sucked.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Romero Fan, a fan-boy, if a may. After seeing the trailer for survival I was a bit turned off. Still, like a good fan-boy i decided to give the film a chance and support one of my favorite directors during a screening at TIFF. It was also free for me so I couldn't go wrong, right? Honestly, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Survival is absolutely terrible! Nothing about it is good. Romero has finally gone off the deep end and lost it. I'm not sure what else to say except that you should avoid this film at all costs if you want to keep the good memories of Romero's films alive. It's by far the worst movie i have ever seen, and quite possibly the worst movie he, or anyone has ever made. I was in denial about how bad a filmmaker Romero has become when i watched Diary. It's now clear as day that he can't cut it anymore, not even Bias or nostalgia can make survival slightly barable, even as a shitty B-flick. I'm really sad that it turned out this way. I really hate seeing a great mind like Romero go out like this.
What horrible, horrible news. I nearly drove 2 hours to go see Diary when it was released and probably would have never forgiven myself the 6 hours of my life wasted.
ReplyDeleteI am somewhat skeptical about "Survival" after the gigantic letdown of "Diary" but excited to see it still.
I'll still see it when the opportunity arises. I just won't go out of my way to do so.
Thanks for chiming in!
