Dead Set Looks to Be a Great Dose of Reality

Dan Barkasi

Who hasn’t wanted to see a reality “star” get taken down by a zombie in the need for a snack? The thought of what would happen to some of these selfish and foolish people if a zombie outbreak just happened to occur during their show has definitely come to mind more than once. Thankfully, we got an answer with “Dead Set.”

The premise is based on a zombie apocalypse breaking out all while the popular show “Big Brother” was being filmed. With the isolation of the house, nobody is aware of what has been happening, until eviction night comes along and the zombies get in. If that right there doesn’t pique your interest, than you must be of the undead yourself!

The show has received much critical acclaim, even being nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award. There has been significant buzz about this show for some time, and any good zombie fan would want to be able to get the chance to view it.

The mini-series was originally aired in the UK in October 2008. Unfortunately, it’s taken two long years for the show to get to this side of the pond from the UK. Better late than never certainly rings true, however, as the show is set to debut on IFC on October 25 at midnight EST, with an episode each following night through October 29. Then, on Halloween night, IFC will replay all five episodes in a row starting at 8:00 PM EST.

This mini-series has been one of the better ideas for a zombie-related production in a while, and the debut on U.S. soil is not to be missed. Hopefully a DVD release will soon follow, as it’s only available in region 2 at this point, with it being released in the UK on November 3, 2008.

Be sure to catch this one! It’s been a long time coming for this to be able to be seen over here, so embrace this long overdue opportunity. A review for the show will also be happening, so keep an eye out for that soon after the series has been aired in full.

  1. I was really lucky when this came out because I managed to get into the London Premier / VIP after party. (whilst dressed as a zombie).

    Well worth watching :-)
