Dead Space 3 Teaser

Chad Hunter

We've often pictured zombies as rising from the earth and reaching from windows, but what depths of horror swallow us when the undead await us in space?

While this scenario would have killed most, weary hero/engineer, Isaac Clarke has survived the necromorphs twice.
Now with EA Games' Dead Space 3 unveiling, can our beleaguered protagonist survive the dead of space a third time?

Stay tuned to Zombies & Toys for additional coverage as the Marker (and you the audience) command!

A Major Victory: Thanks to the Undead !!

Matt Boiselle
There are times in life when one MUST stand up for what they believe in, and I am all for freedom of speech, but when that freedom is abused to the point of being offensive and hateful, the action needs to be halted immediately....but who would think that the ones to halt such actions are the ones that are already dead ?

Everybody's favorite (sarcasm) psychotic redneck outspoken group of uneducated "free-thinkers" - The Westboro Baptist Church, had planned to protest outside of Joint Base-Lewis McChord, a military base South of Seattle, and 27 year old zombie fanatic Melissa Neace had decided that enough was indeed enough. She singlehandedly spearheaded a Facebook-page -inspired protest blocking group called "Zombie'ing Westboro Baptist Church AWAY From Fort Lewis !".....and believe me when I tell you....when zombies speak, the word gets around ! Close to 300 undead counter-protesters showed up en-force to completely swarm a small and useless group of 8 Westboro voices....needless to say, the picketers were silenced quite quickly.

I say we gather up all 300 or so names of these "zombies" and give them not only a HUGE pat on the back and owe them a large debt of gratitude, but when the apocalypse finally does envelop us all, we should return the favor and redirect them to visit our "friends" at Westboro Baptist Church".

The most effective zombie proof cars for the apocalypse

Matt Boiselle
This article is somewhat of a MUST-READ. I completely believe that in order for anyone to survive a zombie-populated future (even for any sustained period of time), you must have a dependable vehicle. Not any mode of transportation will do, for Pete's sake - you have got to have something that you can get behind the wheel of and feel confident in knowing that when the going gets tough, you have a vehicle with enough sack to mow down some raging undead bodies !

The following vehicles that will be shown in this article are certainly adequate enough to handle all of your zombie-smashing needs ( you didn't think you were gonna just hop in Mommy's Prius and save the day, did ya ?)
If you have the means to attain one of these automobiles, you already have a HUGE leg up on many other survivors......now GASOLINE on the other hand.....that may not be as easily attainable !

Now don't get me wrong - weapons, rations, first-aid, shelter & a decent game plan will get you far in the unfortunate event of a zombie outbreak, but if you are planning to cover any stretch of ground, the proper form of transportation is extremely necessary. To check out the remainder of this bad-ass group of apocalyptic zombie-killing sleds, head on over to www.walyou.com/zombie-proof-cars/   --  but always remember " hands on the wheel at 10 & 2 !!!"

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights - The Dead Invades !!

Matt Boiselle

Universal Studios has done it ONCE again - every year the marketing departments of both the Florida and California theme park giants come up with themes for their annual Halloween scarefest Halloween Horror Nights, but usually the two are different....but not THIS year.

With the unprecedented success of AMC's The Walking Dead, Universal Studios has agreed to let brave fans try to elude the undead at BOTH parks this Halloween season. While details remain somewhat sketchy still as to what exactly will be done, you can rest assured that there will be NO skimping on detail or creativity - I have been only to Universal Studios Orlando and have NEVER been disappointed with their presentation out of the many visits to HHN. Their attention to finite specifics in their mazes and scarehouses are simply A-rate, and this season will be no exception.

If you click on the pic you will be running for your life to the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights website, where you will be able to view preview videos, see the dates already set up for this year's event, and even get tickets if you so desire - it's still early on, but rest assured that Universal will not stop here...there will most definitely be many more houses to be announced, and plenty of scares to keep you wanna-be tough guys and gals in line !!

The Zombie Generation : Book Review

Matt Boiselle
Let me start off this review by making one thing stone-dead obvious...I am NOT an author, nor do I think that I possess the patience or internal creativity to sit down and pump out 200-300 pages of fresh material for a new novel every year or so ( that's why I write small articles) - now that's out of the way, let me segue into a review of a book that indeed does provide a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse.

The book I'm writing about is The Zombie Generation by author Drake Vaughn, and it very well could be one of the most intriguing zombie tales that you will pry open your dead eyes for. Our lone character is named Warner, and he has become infected with a zombie virus that takes a VERY long time to deteriorate his condition, and we as the readers, are right there along with him to witness him suffering, both mentally and physically. The premise is without a doubt different, and can be slow in some places, but the tension builds to a certainly unexpected climax that will leave you looking for more print on the books last remaining empty space.

Warners' undead descent is not without delusion, rage, or agony, and Vaughn conveys every single emotion into tangible form. The action scenes are bloody and intensively descriptive, and the quiet moments are just that...meant to lull you into a placid state, and have you come to grips with how slow acting mental retrogression can..well...make you lose your mind !

In the end this was an enjoyable 229 page read wrought with twists, turns, and plenty of suspense - an absolute must-read if you want to break out of the mundane zombie fare that seems to be plaguing bookshelves these days. Click on the pic to be carted off to Amazon where the book can be purchased either via print or E-Reader format - Happy Reading !!

21st Century Dead Roundtable Part 2

Todd Jepperson

Today is the day! It's finally time to grab your own copy of 21st Century Dead: A Zombie Anthology from McMillan and award winning editor Christopher Golden. Also, today is the day we wrap up our zombie roundtable discussion. We’ve already had the pleasure of hearing from contributing authors Jonathan Maberry, S.G. Browne, Stephanie Crawford, and Rio Youers. Today’s line-up features Simon Green, John McIlveen, and Daniel Wilson.

SIMON R. GREEN was born in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England (where he still resides), in 1955. His writing career started in 1973, when he was a student in London. His first actual sale was a story titled Manslayer, back in 1976, but it didn’t appear till much later; Awake, Awake…. was his first sale to a professional editor, in 1979. Furthermore he sold some six or seven stories to semi-pro magazines before that market disappeared practically overnight.

After years of publishers’ rejection letters, he sold an incredible seven novels in 1988, just two days after he started working at Bilbo’s bookshop in Bath (this after three and a half years of being unemployed!). This was followed in 1989 by two more, and a commission to write the bestselling novelization of the Kevin Costner film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which has sold more than 370,000 copies.

JOHN M. MCILVEEN has been featured in numerous anthologies, such as: Epitaphs, Childhood Nightmares, From the Borderlands, Deathrealm, and the Monster’s Corner. He spends the rest of his time as a family man and mechanical/electrical designer.

DANIEL H. WILSON is the New York Times Bestselling Author of Robopocalypse and seven other books, including How to Survive a Robot Uprising and A Boy and His Bot. He earned a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as Masters degrees in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. In 2008, Daniel hosted The Works which aired on the History Channel. The movie adaptation of his novel Robopocalypse will be directed by Steven Spielberg, and is scheduled for release on April 25th, 2014. Daniel's most recent novel, Amped, was released by Doubleday in June, 2012. You can learn more at www.danielhwilson.com or follow him on Twitter @danielwilsonPDX.

Let’s wrap this thing up, shall we?

ZOMBIES&TOYS: To get started, why zombies? What do the shambling hoards of not-quite-dead stir up within you that gets your motor running?

SIMON R. GREEN: Zombies are scary because they used to be people. Maybe even people you knew. But they don’t love you anymore and will eat your soft bits, given the chance.

JOHN M. MCILVEEN: Why not Zombies? I suppose—for me at least--there’s a sense of self-recognition in these shambling, mindless wrecks. Unlike the bad-asses such as Dracula, Alien, and Freddy Krueger, there’s an element of reverse-fuck-withability with zombies. Like us mortals, zombies can be messed with, bullied, hunted for sport, mocked, and even pitied. For me personally, zombies are a story published and a small stipend.

DANIEL H. WILSON: To me a zombie symbolizes loss of control. There is nothing more embarrassing than dying in front of other people. You lose power over your bowels, fall down in awkward positions, and generally make a huge imposition of yourself. It’s like passing out drunk but more permanent and even smellier. That said, I enjoy playing with the idea of losing control or in the case of my story “Parasite,” giving up control to someone, or something, else.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: There was a time when there were only two choices in the world; fast or slow. Today, these monsters can fill any shape you stuff them into. What is your personal favorite brand of zombie, and why?

SIMON R. GREEN: Slow. They’re dead; they’re all messed up. It’s like classic Coke vs. new Coke. You know the real thing when you encounter it.

JOHN M MCILVEEN: I’m a traditional kind of guy, so the Romero-type zombie remains my favorite. I’m also laid-back and tend to move in a slow and steady manner, so I’d have at least a glimmer of hope of surviving. With the more modern Speedy Gonzales zombies of 28 Hours Later, I’d be lunch before you could say fast-food.

DANIEL H. WILSON: Fast zombies appeal to the first person shooter in me, but slow zombies stimulate the turn-based strategic side of my brain. That’s why I can’t have just one. I need ‘em all.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: Contrary to recent headlines, the fact remains that zombies are not real. However, we have been shown many scenarios that could possibly spawn a true life zombie apocalypse (virus, infection, etc.) in the future. Is this strictly an imaginary scenario for you or do you feel the need to make some type of preparations? If so; what are they?

SIMON R. GREEN: Buy gun. Put to head. Pull trigger, when necessary.

JOHN M MCILVEEN: We’re already surrounded by zombies. Go to your local Wal*Mart and see the shuffling, deadpan masses, staring blankly ahead and lumbering mindlessly through semi-life. As for some virus, voodoo, or bug reanimating the dead, that’s simply beyond the realm of possibility… but, just in case, I keep my glock handy.

DANIEL H. WILSON: The part of my brain that determines if a threat is real doesn’t seem to communicate with the part of my brain that obsessively runs through survival scenarios. So, although I don’t really put zombie plague high on my list of things to be afraid of, it is very high on my list of things to prepare for. Stupid brain.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: If the world finally does fall to pieces and you find yourself surrounded by masses of the hungry dead, how long do you think you would survive?

SIMON R. GREEN: See above. Add ; urgency.

JOHN M. MCILVEEN: Oh, I’d say ab…

DANIEL H. WILSON: Hopefully long enough to get my money’s worth out of my Glock 30. Putting rounds through zombies drawn on paper targets barely traumatizes me psychologically anymore.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: Finally, do you have any other projects on the horizon we should keep our eyes out for?

SIMON R. GREEN: My latest Shaman Bond book, (the very secret agent) is just out; LIVE AND LET DROOD. To be followed by my latest Ghost Finders book, (traditional ghost stories in a modern setting,) GHOST OF A DREAM.

JOHN M. MCILVEEN: Look for my novel Hannahwhere and a short-story collection in the not-to-distant future.

DANIEL H. WILSON: My latest novel is AMPED, a techno-thriller about a near future civil rights movement sparked by implantable technology. And I’m currently writing Robogenesis – the sequel to my first novel, Robopocalypse.

… and there you have it. Our 21st Century Dead roundtable discussion is in the books. Speaking of books, head on back to our first post to find a link where you can read John’s short story “a Mother’s Love” and then snag your copy of the anthology from either Amazon.com, Powell’s, Barnes and Noble, or your favorite local bookseller.

Once again, we’d like to extend a HUGE ‘thank you’ to all of the authors who contributed and also to Christopher Golden and McMillan for helping us put this whole thing together. Check back during the next few weeks for our review and follow-up coverage of 21st Century Dead!

We threw them all the same few questions, and the creature that came to be is the monster that follows.  Enjoy!

ZOMBIES&TOYS: To get started, why zombies? What do the shambling hoards of not-quite-dead stir up within you that gets your motor running?

JONATHAN MABERRY: I’ve been a fan of the zombie genre since before the genre had a name. I was there at the Midway Theater in Philly on the world premiere of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, October 2, 1968. I was ten and I snuck in with a buddy of mine. The movie traumatized him, giving him years’ worth of nightmares and turning him into a neurotic bed-wetter well into his twenties. I stayed the see the movie twice, and came back every day while it was playing. I love my life-impaired fellow citizens.

As a storyteller, zombies offer a wonderfully blank canvas.Once introduced they represent a massive, shared threat that’s so big it impacts the lives of every single character in the tale.Once that threat is established, the zoms often take a back seat to the much more interesting drama of disparate characters interacting during a time of great stress. That also allows for the ‘zombie’ to act as a stand-in for anything we’re afraid of, from political corruption to psychological disintegration to the fear of disease. Everyone I know who writes zombie stories comes at it from a different angle, proving that the genre is enormously elastic. There are no shortage of original stories that can be told in a world of zombies.

S.G. BROWNE: Why zombies? Because I saw Night of the Living Dead on Creature Features when I was eleven years old and I fell in love. The fact that they used to be us, that we could become a zombie simply by the act of dying or becoming infected by a virus, is a compelling scenario. What gets my motor running is exploring what happens to us when we come back from the dead, how we deal with the fact that we’re reanimated corpses, and playing with the social dynamic of a scenario in which zombies have been integrated into society.

RIO YOUERS: For me, zombies symbolize degeneration: of life, society, health, even the ozone layer. As a writer, there’s so much to work with … so many fears to amplify. But forget all that interpretive hooey … sometimes it’s fun just to watch dead people walking around.

STEPHANIE CRAWFORD: Like many, I grew up watching zombies as a kid - catching the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD late on television was always a thrill. Once I got old enough to stop having to sneak the stuff from my parents, the sheer breadth of what creative types could do with the concept seduced me. From the gory, goofy fun of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS to reading stacks of serious-minded zombie books reviewed in the Nightmare Library sections of old issues of Fangoria, there was always something to keep me obsessed. Once I discovered Lucio Fulci it was all over for me.

I'm also the type that sees a staggering amount of connections between zombies - their infection, isolation, decay - and how the chronically ill are treated in modern day society. Being able to delve into that, then being able to watch cartoons about zombies on Youtube immediately after... that's pretty great.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: There was a time when there were only two choices in the world; fast or slow. Today, these monsters can fill any shape you stuff them into. What is your personal favorite brand of zombie, and why?

JONATHAN MABERRY: I like any kind of zombie that can scare me. Romero scared me with slow shamblers in NIGHT and DAWN, and Bob Kirkman made them scary in THE WALKING DEAD. Zack Snyder scared me with fast zoms in the DAWN remake. And the infected humans model (THE CRAZIES, 28 DAYS LATER) is even scarier because that’s more scientifically plausible.

As a pop culture geek, I did whichever kind of zombie works best in any given book, movie, comic or TV show.

As a writer, I vary on which kind of zom I use based on how I want to build suspense in my stories. I’ve used all kinds of zoms: slow shamblers (ROT & RUIN), fast zoms (PATIENT ZERO), both kinds (DEAD OF NIGHT), and even super-powered zoms (MARVEL ZOMBIES RETURN).

S.G. BROWNE: While I enjoy all types of zombies, I tend to prefer stories told from the zombies’ POV. Rather than being the villains, they’re the heroes and I like having things flipped around to provide a different perspective. Plus most zombie stories aren’t really about zombies—they’re about the breakdown of society and how people deal with the problem of zombies. So I write stories about zombies and how they deal with the problem of people.

RIO YOUERS: I like the slow, shambling zombie. They may not be as threatening, but they have a kind of helplessness and repetition that gives me a serious case of the heebie-jeebies. They also seem more … well, dead. And that’s the whole point of a zombie, right?

STEPHANIE CRAWFORD: I'm partial to the charming, (barely) semi-coherent zombies. I have a not-so-secret crush on Bub from DAY OF THE DEAD, and the gang of ambulance ordering undead in RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD is something I've always found charming. Then again, maybe I'd just prefer someone still have to ability to have a sense of humor while they were gnawing through my skull on the off-chance that it might soften the blow a bit.

JONATHAN MABERRY: Even though I’ve conjured up some pretty plausible scientific explanations for my novels (PATIENT ZERO, DEAD OF NIGHT, etc.), I don’t think we’re in any real danger of a zombie apocalypse. Certainly not with anything that Mother Nature cooks up, no matter how cranky she gets. Of course, it’s inside the realm of possibility that a designer pathogen could be concocted to approximate the symptoms consistent with zombies. However, it isn’t likely. Terrorists are more likely to simply blow stuff up.

That said, it is very likely that we might face some kind of global pandemic that is so aggressive and contagious that it has an apocalyptic quality. A weaponized version of Ebola would do it. It wouldn’t turn people into flesh-eaters, but everyone could become a carrier, so in a very real sense the infected would be an ever-growing plague army. Infrastructure would collapse as soon as health care workers, police, EMTs and the military became infected – and since they’re on the front line, that is going to happen. So, apocalypse? Yeah. Possible.

The best preparation we can make is to educate ourselves on the proper use of antibiotics (so we don’t eradicate our own immune system), quarantine protocols, hygiene, basic health, and first aid. And we could all take some workshops on cooperation. That’d keep things from spinning out of control when the lights go out.

S.G. BROWNE: I tend to believe it’s more imaginary than realistic, so I don’t really have a zombie apocalypse contingency plan. But if the walking dead did become a reality, I’d likely grab my Camelback, Louisville Slugger, a pair of comfortable shoes, my leather backpack, and several pair of clean underwear. Just in case.

RIO YOUERS: Yeah, my plan is to hide behind Brian Keene and let him do the fighting. It’s cowardly, yes, but smart; Brian has written so much about zombies that I figure he knows what to do. He also has guns. Lots of guns. And heavy metal music. What could possibly go wrong?

STEPHANIE CRAWFORD: Assuming that it IS fact they're not real (ASSUMING), I think it's entirely possible our frail human bodies could be manipulated and ravaged very quickly and society could go sideways almost immediately. Saying that, life is too short even when things go reasonably smoothly for me to get too gung-ho with preparations. I do have some friends that are well-stocked, however, and I fully intend to always let them know how delightful they are and how dearly I treasure our friendship.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: If the world finally does fall to pieces and you find yourself surrounded by masses of the hungry dead, how long do you think you would survive?

JONATHAN MABERRY: I’ve been a martial artist for nearly fifty years, and I’ve worked variously as a bodyguard, self-defense instructor and trainer for all levels of law enforcement including SWAT. I’m damn good with any weapon, and particularly handy with a katana. I can also get moderately cranky if my loved ones are in peril. So, if it comes down to any kind of apocalypse, I’m going to make it to safety with my family. Anyone who wants to come along is welcome to join us, but I give this warning: if there’s one of those cranky, loud-mouthed clowns in the party, I’m feeding him to the zoms so the rest of us can get away.

S.G. BROWNE: I’d like to think I’d be pretty crafty and would be able to navigate the zombie apocalypse with some common sense, considering I’ve seen enough movies on the subject. So I give myself a pretty decent chance of survival. I’d probably be more likely to die at the hands of some gun-toting douche bag who wants my supplies before I’d get eaten alive by a hungry zombie.

RIO YOUERS: See question #3. I’ll survive forever, unless I switch Brian’s Anthrax CD for my Captain and Tennille. Then he’ll shoot me himself.

STEPHANIE CRAWFORD: Unless zombies are into slapstick and crave vaudevillian entertainment, I’m pretty sure I’d die within minutes. As much as I enjoy zombie survival tales, I don't think I'd have much interest living in a world filled with rotting bodies, chocolate factories shut down and the only available soda being flat.

ZOMBIES&TOYS: Finally, do you have any other projects on the horizon we should keep our eyes out for?

JONATHAN MABERRY: The third in my series of post-apocalyptic zombie novels for teens debuts in September (FLESH & BONE), and I’m currently writing the last book in that series. I’m also working on MARVEL UNIVERSE VS THE AVENGERS, a mini-series that will launch around Halloween. And my first anthology as editor, V-WARS, just debuted, which is a shared-world vampire story.  Also…we’ll be making some noise soon about a movie deal.

S.G. BROWNE: I’ll be releasing a Christmas themed zombie novella titled I Saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus that’s a sequel to my debut novel Breathers and takes place nearly a year after the first novel left off. It’s scheduled for release November 13, 2012.

RIO YOUERS: My new novel, WESTLAKE SOUL, hit bookstores recently, and the reviews so far have been outstanding. I have a bunch of short stories coming out in various anthologies, and I’m about to start work on a new story with fellow 21ST CENTURY DEAD contributor Mark Morris. And if all goes well, there should also be something new from Cemetery Dance in 2013

Check back in tomorrow when we wrap up with Part 2 of this discussion featuring Simon Green, Daniel H. Wilson, and John M. McIlveen and stop in and make sure your favorite retailer is preparing for the release of 21st Century Dead!

Todd Jepperson

Coming tomorrow, McMillan books and award winning editor Christopher Golden bring us 21st Century Dead; a follow up to the “eclectic” zombie anthology The New Dead which was released in February of 2010. Could You Survive ?

Matt Boiselle

Are you one of those horror movie fanatics that constantly runs through different scenarios when you are checking out a film ? Do you think that you could have the perfect plan in order to successfully survive a situation where you were face to face with a deranged serial killer ? Or maybe a horde of flesh-eating zombies ? How about an amped up rabid sea creature that wants to devour you whole ?

If you think you could make it through any (or all) of these situations, then make sure to check out Chiller TV's new summer special " Can You Survive A Horror Movie ?" In this interesting idea for a show, we the viewer will be treated to a number of different horror-movie instances in where one of a group of industry insiders will be put to the ultimate test to see if they can survive, using their wits & stamina, but most importantly, do they have the correct amount of know-how to make it through these hellish undertakings ?

We here at Zombies & Toys have a special interest in tonight's show mainly due to its subject matter - one of the situations will involve a host testing to see if they could survive a zombie apocalypse. Now I know that many of our writers and collaborators have what they think could be an iron-clad plan for the end of the world when the dead shall walk the earth, but just how right they are....only time will tell. If you are one of the lucky ones to have Chiller TV, the show will air tonight at 9 p.m.

World War Z: new ending rewrite in the works ?

Matt Boiselle

As if this film couldn't face any more disorganization, controversy, or all out general confusion as to what the heck is going on, we as fans of Max Brooks' World War Z may finally have a nugget of hope that we can cling to. Drew Goddard, the mastermind behind the new horror sensation The Cabin in the Woods, has been given the seemingly unwanted task of writing the ending to the big-screen adaptation of the hugely popular novel.

Previously, Marc Forster (Quantum Of Solace) was the man in charge of the job at hand, and according to industry insiders, he was running the entire production into a massive hole. Now take a great book that has provided plenty of buzz, and mix in a massive budget, copious amounts of productive infighting, and a script that is a shaky as Nick Nolte's footing on solid ground......and well...we've got quite the mess don't we ?

Added to all of this utter perplexity, insiders claim that there is a limited amount of time for Goddard to get cracking on this project, and Christopher McQuarrie ( Tom Cruise's screenwriter) could be the NEXT man in line to take over the workload in a top-to-bottom format. So what is the ending result in all of this mess ?? No one really seems to know - the only thing that manages to remain a constant is that the movies that fans are truly clamoring to see are the ones with the most strife.....but we manage to get a new "Twilight" every year (shudders). As usual, stick with us here at Zombies & Toys and we will try to see if over time any more news will make sense of this never ending debacle of a project.

New (Rec) 3: Genesis - Red Band Trailer now available

Matt Boiselle

Fans of the incredibly popular (Rec) series of movies have been clamoring to get a glimpse of what is being held in store for the latest entry into the series, and the latest red-band trailer will hopefully shed some new light on that question itself.

The newest installment - entitled (Rec) 3: Genesis, tells the tale of two happy newlyweds and the horror that ensues at their reception when an outbreak of the killer rabies virus overtakes their guests. The prior two films have not disappointed and by the looks of this new trailer, we are all in store for another entertaining blood-and-guts gorefest (which we all are eagerly awaiting !) Feel free to click on the movie poster itself to be taken to IGN's website where you can revel in some violence ! The movie itself will be unveiled by Magnet Releasing on VOD on August 3rd of this year, and will be dropping in select theaters around the U.S. on September 7th.

A gallery of video game heroes......zombified

Philip Hynes

Who doesn't love sitting down in front of their TV or computer and wasting a lot of time on our favorite video games ?? There may even be a small number of us that get a little carried away while playing, even wishing death upon those little pixilated figures that we have depended on for entertainment. Well, here you go - some of the most popular characters to grace our screens, and what they may look like if they truly were to perish in the game we were controlling them in.......and had been "rejuvenated." - Look on in horror but just keep telling yourself " it's just a game........it's just a game."

Zombie World Detroit

Philip Hynes
Parent  - " Sorry kids we're not going to Disney World this year"
  Kids - " Awwwwwwwwwwwwww"
  Parent - " No - we're going to Zombie World instead !"
  Kids - " Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay !!"

Detroit enterpreneur Mark Siwak has taken what most zombie fans have daydreamed about and is looking to create a zombie theme park. This act of sheer genius is currently in the planning and fundraising stage.

In a nutshell, Mark hopes to convert a large portion of Detroit's abandoned industrial area into a slice of post-apocalypse zombie America where visitors will pay to experience the apocalypse first hand and have a marvelous time doing it. This will also help to stimulate growth in an area suffering from the economic downturn. You can read more and donate at the link here.

Send More Muppets: Fright-Rags Exclusive

Matt Boiselle
The creative masterminds at the horror t-shirt company Fright Rags have done it again. In conjunction with the 27th anniversary of the zombie horror-comedy classic, The Return of the Living Dead, a limited-edition series of t-shirts & hoodies have been emblazoned with a design that is sure to send chills (and some laughs) down your spine.

While numerous ROTLD shirts have been spit out with drab graphics over the years by many other t-shirt makers, only Fright Rags could provide a design that can capture the essence of the movie that surely launched MANY fans into intently viewing other undead projects on the big (and little) screen for years after. Oh yeah, and did we mention.....the cast of the movie has been replaced by The Muppets ?? That's right ! - Those goofy little multi-colored showmen that infected movie and TV screens for many of us during our youth, have taken over key roles on this shirt ( and does it EVER look cool !)

The focal point of the shirt centered across a graveyard is The Tarman himself, flanked by both Bert & Ernie playing from the movie.....well, Bert & Ernie. Other main characters like Suicide, Trash & Freddy are also depicted in full color and let me tell you, this little beauty will be sure to sell out quickly ! Pre-orders are being accepted on www.fright-rags.com right now for both mens and womens sizes s-5xl - and hoodies are also available, but be warned - this pre-order is only going to be offered until this Sunday, July 8th at 11:59 pm SO HURRY UP !!!!
