Exclusive Updates Now Available!

We're working hard to improve Zombies & Toys and provide our readers with new ways to enjoy our passion for... well... zombies and toys.  Our latest effort is the launch of our email newsletter.  Designed to keep you up-to-date of the latest offerings from The Zombie Toy Store, we promise not to spam you.

Updates will only be sent to announce new items in stock, pre-orders, and exclusive sales.  Our initial newsletter announcement is being made right here!  After all, nobody has subscribed yet.  So, our first limited time offering is a sale on our Feasting Zombie Plush available now for only $4.99.  Take advantage and subscribe to our new newsletter in order to receive future offers and announcements!

Squeeze this cute-ish zombie's head to hear him "chomp, chomp, chomp" on your brain only to belch when he's finished.

Who Wants a New Zombie Toy?

I know I do!  There is a new Kickstarter project that will give us all the opportunity to see a new plush zombie made.  Created by Rick Marson, the ZOMs are hand-sewn zombies available only on Etsy and at conventions.  With ZOM demand rising, Rick decided it was time for the zombie apocalypse we have all been preparing for.

I made my pledge several weeks ago and kept forgetting to bring this project to everyone's attention.  Trust me when I tell you that bringing a toy to production is not cheap.  If you would like to pre-order a ZOM, head over and secure your new, uindead friend.  If you would just like to help support a fellow fan of zombies and toys (and Zombies & Toys), make a small contribution and gain some swag in the process.  All details can be found here.

Penelope Cruz is a Zombie Toy

Todd Jepperson

Action figure workhorse Jakks Pacific is releasing a line of toys based on Disney’s latest Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides. What makes this cool is these four inch figures will come with a nifty little black light “reveal” which will reveal their darker side. That’s right, kids. Yer off the edge of the map. Here, there be monsters.

Now, I’m not sure if this is more a glow in the dark thing, or if Jakks will use special UV ink on the toys. Either way, “moonlight” shows them for what they really are. Each single figure will come with its own black light accessory, as well as all of the Legend Pack figures, and the Queen Anne’s Revenge playset. The characters I found from this first series include Angelica (Penelope Cruz), Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Gibbs (Kevin McNally), Jack (Johnny Depp), and some random pirate from the Queen Anne’s Revenge (Mark Smith).

From my old WWF (yeah, that’s what we called it back then) days, I came to know Jakks as more of a quantity over quality kind of toymaker with their wrestling superstar action figures. From what it looks like, we have the same guys at work here. Details will be passed over in lieu of quicker presentation on the shelves of Wal-marts across the country. Still, with price tags from $7.99 for the singles, they might be worth looking at.

The Tarman - Toy Update

Arguably one of the most recognizable zombies outside of the Romero clan, Tarman is finally making his way to your toy shelf.  Unfortunately, he's been delayed until February of next year.  While this is sad news to many of us, it isn't necessarily a bad thing.  I'll take a delay over a shoddy finished product any day.

Tarman is being brought to us by Amok Time toys who are also responsible for the Bub action figure as well as a 12" Cemetery Zombie.  Amok Time is unique as they seem to create some of the more obscure movie characters from out past such as Blacula and Elvira.

I had the pleasure of meeting the President of Amok Time, Paul Lazo, at Steel City Con a few months back.  Paul is a great guy and because he's a collector too, I trust that we will have a great figure in the near future.

For the record... YES, we will have Tarman available in the Zombie Toy Store!

Left 4 Dead Tank Statue

Gaming Heads is teaming up with Valve to bring us a line of high-end collectibles from one of our favorite games. I'm assuming you have read the title of this post so the cat's out of the bag. So, yes, we can expect a statue of Left 4 Dead's Tank.

The Gaming Heads site states that this is the first of their Left 4 Dead series. First? Unfortunately, they give us no clue as to who is next or when we can expect them. The regular edition is limited to 750 pieces and will set you back $299. For an extra $25, you can get the exclusive edition that comes with a shotgun and is limited to 300 pieces.

The Tank has been faithfully recreated, posed having just smashed through a reinforced door. Its eyes have been painted with luminous paints that glows in the dark giving him a frenzied infected look.

In order to create the most accurate statue, we have used the actual game files. He measures approximately 15 inches tall, including the base. Comes packed in a foam interior full colored box with a validation card which ensures your product is genuine. Cast in high quality poly-stone, the statue is hand finished and hand painted to exacting standards.

Pocket Zombies News

One of my personal favorite zombie toys has an exciting update. Atomfreak Studios recently introduced the undead cuteness known as Pocket Zombies. The first series, The Family, has not been released in its entirety. Ted-E is currently available with sister, Apple, and their undead pet pooch, Wondoo, being made available shortly.

Creator, Alex Rodrigue, just announced on the Pocket Zombies' official Facebook page that they will be sharing some concept artwork of possible future characters. He did mention in a previous interview with Zombies & Toys that there was a good possibility we could see more of these guys in the future.

We'll try to post images here as they become available. But to ensure you don't miss an exciting unveiling, become a friend of Pocket Zombies on Facebook. While you're there, leave some comments about what you like or dislike about the new designs.

Zombie Kevin Smith Toy

Three of my most favorite things all rolled into one! Forging ahead with Kevin Smith's line of "inaction" figures, Graphitti Designs is bringing us a 5" zombified version of Keving Smith!

Retailing at a very affordable $12.95, Night of the Living Kev can keep the rest of your toys company. No release date has been specified, but you can pre-order these from several online retailers. I will try to have these available in the Zombie Toy Store and will post again to confirm if this is a possibility so that nobody misses out.
