The Italian Zombie Movie Parts 1 & 2 Movie Review

David Brown

What do you get when you combine chicken eggs raining from the sky, barrels of primordial ooze, pill bottles actually labeled with things like “anti-anxiety pills”, and things like the Acme wiretap and Acme wiretap receiver? You get a pair of great movies brought to you by The Cult of Moi and Vous Film Producioni Company, LLC.  Zombie Abomination: The Italian Zombie Movie Part 1 and Zombie Atrocity: The Italian Zombie Movie Part 2 are two movies that much be watched together to be truly understood.

I must admit that when I first sat down to watch these movies I was skeptical, having many a problem getting interested in the movies. This is a movie in the style of many a budding film maker, with many shots seeming like they are from a home made movie. It was once I actually sat down and started to watch and looked past the technical unfamiliarity that I truly started to see the awesome movie that is underneath.  If anything, I would call this a movie that is, much like Plan 9 From Outer Space, is so bad it is good.

When I say this I mean it with the utmost respect. This is a movie made by zombie movie fans for zombie movie fans. While isn’t the best movie I have seen, it definitely takes me back to the great films like the Evil Dead, where we were allowed to see all the blood and guts at the forefront followed by many in jokes and lots of “did they just do that” moments. As I said in the intro, there are many moments where the film just goes for things you did not think they would, like a signal of the end times being chicken and various other bird eggs raining from the skies, or so thought by a couple of characters.

We not only get zombies in this film but we also get minions of the devil, succubi, psychics, and mad scientists.  Even in saying this I know there are a lot of other things that I have probably missed that are included in this movie. It is truly one of those where you have to just keep on watching and sit through the cheesy gore and overly delivered acting. It is these qualities along with the sheer silliness and brutality that appears on the screen at times that truly makes this movie the fun time it is.

If you are looking for a serious film that portrays everything with 100 percent accuracy, then this is not the movie for you. If you are looking for a fun film that you can watch and enjoy with your brain turned off then watch this pair.  There are a total of three hours of overacting, cheesy effects, and at time bad cg here.  If you get a chance to see these movies as a pair or individually do not pass it up as you will find a fun movie that you will remember for a while, especially if you enjoy your movies with a dash of evil dead and three stooges.  In an age of repeated sequels like the Saw franchise, it was nice to be able to sit down and watch a movie that was created with passion, while not taking itself to seriously. They made this film for themselves and fans, so go check it out and hopefully we will see a part three very soon.
