A "more intense" World War Z is coming to Blu-Ray

Dead Alive Blu-Ray Set to Reanimate October 4th

Attention zombie lovers!! Coming this October 4th, one of the wildest, goriest, and without a doubt most over the top films to be released in a long time will crash into your homes when it is unleashed on Blu-Ray format. Directed by Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson ( Lord of the Rings trilogy), this absolute gore-fest will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and to be blatantly honest, if you haven't seen this film yet....you must!! In a nutshell, the story revolves around a mama's boy who is forced into looking after his overbearing, evil to the core mother. The mama's boy meets the girl of his dreams.....but mom isn't so happy with the attention now off of her, so she attempts to ruin her son's new love relationship, oh yeah did I forget to mention that mommy has just been bitten by a Sumatran Rat Monkey? Yep, mother is now a blood-thirsty zombie and is spreading her undead disease across the town. Will the mama's boy save the day? Will he save his new girlfriend? Will you be able to sit through all of the stomach-churning scenes? You will only be able to uncover these answers if you purchase this awesomely psychotic film when it rolls onto the market. The Road Ahead for the Walking Dead

This is part one of a two-part post about what’s coming up for the AMC series The Walking Dead. It’s coming to you in two parts; because, my lunch break is only 30 minutes long and anything that takes less than a half hour to come out with usually gets flushed. Anyway, what I’m gonna do first is give you an update about the Walking Dead DVD/Blu-ray release details (which I first brought you here).


It’s looking like March 8th, 2011 is gonna be the day. The price tag for Blu-ray will be $49.99, and DVD comes in at ten bucks less. Pre-ordering should be available from most retailers around the second week in February. My suggestion; however, is to jump on over to Amazon.com
and pre-order it today for $25 which is two bucks less than it was last time.


Next, I want to answer a question that I got after posting the good news of the quick release:

“If they're rushing to get the DVD out though, does that mean that its going to suffer when it comes to DVD extras? This series could have an amazing set of extras from what I've seen of clips hear and there, and it would be such a shame if the bugger it up in the rush to get the DVD out.”


With the release, we can expect a full set of special features, including the “Making of ‘The Walking Dead’”, “Inside ‘The Walking Dead’” episode 1-6, a sneek peek with Robert Kirkman, Behind-The-Scenes Zombie make-up tips, a convention panel with producers, and “The Walking Dead” trailer. It should also be loaded with bonus footage about Zombie school, bicycle girl, an on the set feature with Robert Kirkman & also Andrew Lincoln (Rick), a Steven Yeun (Glen) feature, a tour of Dale’s RV, and a partridge in a pear tree.


It looks like they’ve realized that it’s hard to justify $50 for 6 episodes; so, they’re loading the case with goodies for us to ease the sting. Keep an eye out for the next part of this post when I’ll give you an update about what we can expect from season 2. Let’s just say, somebody might show up with a sword… Okay, it’s Michonne! Wait… spoiler?

The Walking Dead on Blu-ray and DVD

I’ve got bad news, and good news. To make it short and sweet, here’s the bad news: The 6th and last episode of The Walking Dead: Season One will air this Sunday at 9/8c on AMC. (editor's note: I was asleep at the wheel getting this posted) Yeah, the entire first season of the series was only 6 episodes long. Not only that; but, the next season likely won’t start until Oct. 2011. You’re probably thinking, “What the hell am I going to do for the next year? Do they really expect me to wait around?” Which is where the good news comes in.


AMC and Anchor Bay Distribution are fast-tracking the DVD and Blu-ray release of the first season. We have a confirmed release date of March 8th 2011. That’s right, we really only have to wait a couple of months to snag the DVD set… or single disk, as it may be. Now the other good news, Amazon.com is taking pre-orders now. At $27.99 for DVD and $34.99 Blu-ray, we’re getting the season for an average of five twenty-five per episode. There will be no buyer’s remorse there. And the other, other good news? It looks like the next season will be a whole lot longer than this one and will have over a dozen episodes. See you in October.

Romero's Day of the Dead Re-Mastered

George Romero's classic, Day of the Dead, is getting re-mastered and released on Blu-ray. To celebrate the films 25th anniversary, this release will contain a mad amount of extras. It even includes a comic book that tells a new story featuring Bub! But that comic is just the beginning. Not only is the video restored, but it also features a new hi-def soundtrack of the newly-restored 'uncensored dialogue' version, a dual-sided poster, a 24 page booklet, and is available in four collectible sleeves.
