ZOMBIES are back on top!

Todd Jepperson

ZOMBIES are still knocking them dead in ratings, at least with the kids.

The ratings have been released and the new Disney Channel musical ZOMBIES was the top live and same day cable program with kids, tweens, and teens. But what may be even more surprising, it ranked number five in overall viewership. This says a lot, considering that the shambling messes were in direct competition with the extremely nimble athletes performing on the world stage of NBC's Winter Olympic coverage. All that competition, and they still gnawed their way in to the number five spot. The plague only knows how much better ZOMBIES would have done on any other night.

This new offering pits relative newcomers Milo Manheim and Meg Donnely at seemingly impossible odds; one zombie and one cheerleader. What begins as a strange friendship grows into a sweet insight into what it means to be accepting and kind, even with our differences.

Now we wait to see how the show does in stream and replay numbers. What is certain, though, is that the people still love some good old fashioned living-dead.

Walt Disney would be proud of these zombie-slayers !

Matt Boiselle

Who ever said that the beauty and grandeur that is Disney is only limited to the happiest tales, complete with cutesy-pie animals and dulcet-toned melodies ? If you look at it from an apocalyptic standpoint, EVERYONE will potentially be affected when that fateful day comes and all people, near and far, will be faced with the prospect of the true do-or-die survivalist mentality....and we do need some solid heroes to protect us all.....and that's where Walt's crew comes stormin' in.

If some of the characters in these pictures seem awfully familiar to you, then you're not alone - credited to DeviantArtist Kasami-Sensei, some of Disney's most beloved and iconic figures have undergone a transformation of sorts - bypassing the contented & mirthful psyche that has cemented their place in animation lore, and toughening their outer shells to that of a hardened band of doomsday protectors. Buzz Lightyear, Woody & Jesse from the Toy Story series certainly have lost that gleeful plaything-chest demeanor, now sporting the 1000-yard stare as they ready themselves to dole out some zombie-bashing justice.

Who could forget adorable little Ariel and her true love Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid ?.....well, innocence is gone, Jack - the little girl who lived "under the sea" and just wanted to be "part of your world" frankly looks a little sick of the world she opted to grow feet for, and she now is firmly planting those tootsies in the ass of any slobbering skin-chewer that happens to stumble her way....I gotta admit, I like this Ariel MUCH MORE.

Even Princess Tiana, much like Mulan, has taken on the Michonne-clone-style katana killer look, and I'm diggin it - NO MORE HAPPY SONGS FOR THESE SOVEREIGNS !!

Finally, fresh off their historical box-office slaughtering, we have Anna & Elsa from Frozen - these two icy popsicles have ditched the snowy landscape from whence they came, and have opted to brave the hell-fire of the apocalypse to dispatch some chilly chastening to those long departed from this earth. You can view the remainder of this killer gallery (and there are A LOT more pics) by hitting the link below, and prepare to kiss the sweet images of your youth GOODBYE, for this is war upon the undead, NOT A FRIGGIN SING-A-LONG !

More Walt Disney Princess Zombies

Todd Jepperson

Prince Charming had better have a solid contingency plan in place, because his princesses have all come down with something terrible. His good looks and sweet words are wasted on these lovelies, who now only want him for his braaiiins. For your viewing pleasure, we present these undead beauties as only Deviantart’s “Clocktowerman” could create.

Although this isn’t a completely new idea, (see here and here) it is an amazing reimagining of the Walt Disney Princesses like we’ve never seen before.   Head on over to DA, to check out his other work, and then make sure you follow him on Tumblr.

Frankenweenie Stills, Teaser, and Poster Released

Todd Jepperson

In 1984, Tim Burton put together a short film about a boy and the loss of his best friend. (You can watch that story in two parts; here and here.) The story never left his mind, as it seems. In 2005, plans to revisit it surfaced and last October, Disney treated us to a couple of stills.

With a release date of October 5th, 2012, Frankenweenie has been a project almost two decades in the making; so to keep us busy until October, Disney has released a few more goodies.

Little Victor, shattered by the loss of his pooch, Sparky, turns to science to bring his best friend back from the grave; but, gets more than he bargained for. Victor does his best to hide the dog from his neighbors and when Sparky gets out the action really gets going.

(expand for total goodness)

Bambi's Zombie Mom

Bambi + Zombie = Zombi: Fawn of the Dead.

Thanks to the new MAD TV series, we are all witness to a new animated short featuring Disney's Bambi.  In Zombi: Fawn of the Dead,  Bambi's dead mother rises from the grave to attack the living.  Again it is proven, zombies make everything better.

Walt Disney Princess Zombies!

I never thought I’d see the day where I would post about Walt Disney princesses on my blog about zombies. But, I guess stranger things could happen. After all, I have posted about zombie Mickey toys several times. Speaking of “several times”, I’ll say it again… zombies can make anything good.

Some cosplay enthusiasts decided it would be a great idea to shamble to the London MCM Expo this October dressed as Disney characters. Bring on the Walt Disney princesses as zombies!

Live-Action Xombie Movie On Horizon

Several sites are reporting that Disney's Dreamworks is in negotiations to purchase the movie rights to Xombie. I'll admit, I've never heard of Xombie until now. Apperantly, it began as an animated online series, moved on to a comic, and is now being turned into an illustrated film.

Xombie is the story of a zombie cop named Dirge who is trying to save humanity from evil zombies. Check out the official site here. Xombie was created by James Farr.
